Old School with great service. Somehow this small size hardware store has everything. I assume the basement has a lumber factory.. They got it all. They even have a notary. The staff is more than helpful. Prices are reasonable. They cut a key for my really old car on the cheap. There is some parking in the back and on Washington St and the front is accessible. Either way the employees can help you with anything. If you’re in a bind and want to shop local this is your one stop shop. Only thing this place is missing is Bob Vila… But who knows he might be in the basement.

I’m extremely disappointed with the experience at this Ace Hardware location. My friend attempted to return an unopened bucket of roof melt that we had purchased during the storm. We bought two buckets at another store due to limited availability and later realized we only needed one. During the return, the manager, Alex, was rude and unprofessional. He berated my friend and called her selfish for returning the product. He repeatedly tried to guilt her, saying other customers needed the roof melt and that it would now sit on their shelves until next winter. This behavior was inappropriate and unacceptable for someone in a management role. It is not a customer’s responsibility to manage a store’s inventory. We had checked multiple Ace Hardware locations before finding this product, and there is still snow in the forecast, so demand remains high. After the return was processed, he crumpled the original receipt my friend had brought in. While he eventually returned it, this should never have happened. Another store associates had to ask him to stop, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional to witness. No customer should be treated this way for making a legitimate return. EDIT: The reason you refuse to go into detail is that there was nothing inappropriate about my friend’s behavior. Your conduct, however, was unprofessional and hostile. You harassed an Asian woman over a routine return and repeatedly lectured her in a condescending manner, as though she were incapable of understanding you. This behavior demonstrates a lack of professionalism, self-control, and clear bias. It was particularly embarrassing that another associate—an older gentleman—had to intervene and tell you, a grown adult, to stop and that you had gone far enough. You should focus on treating customers with basic respect before attempting to lecture others about respect. This incident was over a single bucket of roof melt. If you did not wish to process the refund, you could have simply stated that, and she would have gone to another location without issue. We have reported this incident to Ace Hardware corporate and filed a formal complaint. The "details" will be reviewed and addressed. EDIT#2: You can deny/disagree with what happened, but you, my friend, and the older gentleman who intervened all witnessed the interaction. I later learned that he is the owner, Josef. The fact that the owner had to step in and tell you to stop speaks for itself. The issue was your lack of professionalism as the store manager during a simple return. You could have processed the return without the condescending tone and berating the customer. You spoke about respect, but respect also means exercising restraint and keeping negative opinions to yourself. If you had concerns, you should have completed the transaction and addressed them privately after the customer had left.

my favorite hardware store in the area. unlike others, they typically have what they advertise and the staff knows their stuff. not easy to return things, though. you only get a store credit. that is not very useful if I have clients that I buy for.

Abundant inventory packed into a small store. Wonderful customer service. Every single time I have gone in, a worker has asked if I needed help finding anything.
