I had an issue with a return and the woman was very kind but was unable to answer my questions so she contacted the owner( Joe L.) whom I then spoke with on the phone And before I could say anything or ask any questions and with the worst attitude possible in a condescending disrespectful tone Starts explaining to me that the refund transaction Is a problem with my Credit card company and can take up to 30 days to be processed and Not a problem on his end Then, when I told him it was a debit card, not a credit card He’s in back tracks and tells me it’s a problem with my bank and in a sarcastic tone tells me “maybe I should contact my bank” And when I said, I had already contacted my bank, and there are no transactions pending From Ace Hardware in Lakeview He’s with an even bigger attitude tells me he’ll give me the cash refund because “$30 means nothing to a man like him” This is quite possibly the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had , So thank you, Joe the owner of Ace Hardware in Lakeview Cause I will never spend a penny in your store again and furthermore, I will make sure that anyone I know will not patronize your business And again all the employees were wonderful. The older gentleman in the red vest was extremely helpful and helping me find my plumbing needs and a woman At the cashier Was extremely polite, patient and friendly

I went to this location today to get some bolts and was greeted by an older gentleman who I believe to be the owner. He then proceeded to look me up and down and ask if I needed help finding anything. This would be totally fine under normal circumstances but as a visibly queer person, I could tell by the way that he was looking at me that there was discomfort there which I didn’t appreciate. He then led me to the items that I was looking for and when I thanked him, he just looked at me and said nothing in return. Overall the whole experience made me feel unwelcome, and based off of other reviews I’ve read I think I’m correct in assuming that the owner has a bias against POC/queer people. The store itself seemed organized and well-stocked but I will not be supporting this location due to its leadership.

Phenomenal hardware store with extremely helpful and friendly staff. They have everything you could possibly need for your home fixes and DIY projects: paint, gardening tools/potting soil, lighting, cleaning supplies, auto supplies, power tools, screws/nuts/bolts/hardware, lumber, key copying, air filters, water filters, and so so much more. This store is very well stocked, so be sure to ask someone for what you need, because they most definitely have it!

I can’t say enough good things about this Ace Hardware. The staff is always professional, super helpful, and never makes you feel dumb for asking questions. They’re always willing to help you think through a project and make sure you’re buying the right stuff, which I really appreciate. Prices are great, and the service alone makes it worth going here. If you’re working on something at home and need a little guidance or are unsure of where to start, this is the location to go.

As somebody who lives in the apartments nearby, I couldn't ask for a better neighborhood store. They're a true home "improvement" store, providing everything from construction materials to kitchen gadgets and cleaning products. I'm more of a "fix it myself" person when it comes to my apartment rather than waiting for the leasing company to do it, and Ace provides everything I could need for the job. Everyone in the store is incredibly sweet and helpful and always has a friendly attitude.
