This is quite literally the nicest hardware store I have ever been to. It even has a slide! The staff were phenomenal too. Every single person in there asked how we are doing and was there to help if needed. I will not go to any other hardware store in Indy

I have been using this place multiple times each weekend as I did a couple home projects, but I will never go back again. Everyone was so friendly that I could overlook the fact that they're usually pretty unhelpful when you ask a question about products (one younger guy just made up a confidently incorrect answer, but looking at the label we realized he was completely wrong.) But their return policy is ridiculous. Not only are they obsessed with needing a receipt even though they take your phone number with every order (they told me that's more for their tracking, not my benefit), even when you have a legit return with receipt, it's a nightmare. I bought a bunch of spray paint, but one of the cans wouldn't start. I had used a coupon, and when I came back to return it for the same exact item an hour later, they actually wanted me to pay the difference because I used a coupon the first time. It seemed silly to swap out the exact same item but ask me to pay more for it. But I figured this was just a misunderstanding, but when the manager came over, she was even more aggressive about it. I've been in there so much that I really pushed back until they swapped out the defective one for a new one, but not before the manager made a dramatic check of the can, suddenly insinuating that I used it all and it was just trying to return it empty. I promised I would never be back, and I don't recommend you go either. I worked in retail for years and would never have treated a regular (or anyone) like that. Sullivan's Hardware is right up the street at 49th & Penn and so much better all around - go there instead.

Unmatched customer service, and a very cool location!! Huge selection in this small store, but packed inside are 2 stories of tools and some of the most helpful hardware folks you'll ever find. Plus a fun slide for the kids! If you're in the area don't skip this location for your hardware needs!

This is the one, Indy. Stop going to the other hardware stores. Benge's is the only one you need, and I will be genuinely excited to go back the next time I need anything for my house. It may not have an overcrowded Christmas train, nor a giant parking lot full of flock cameras, nor people hitting you up about your gutters or furnace, but it does have a slide and free popcorn and some of the friendliest, most helpful staff I've encountered in a hardware store in this city. Run, don't walk.

Best Ace hardware I’ve been to. Looks very new and has two floors, with a very fun slide to the basement. Was easy to find the part I was looking for the staff at the checkout were very nice.
