This is what a hardware store is supposed to be. Yeah they do not have all the stuff as the big box stores but they have more of what you need. They have knowledgeable staff to help you get that replacement screw that broke off your twenty year old desk drawer.

I disagree with other recent reviews. It's very hard to get help in the hardware part of the store. Employees say they have specialities and to talk to a specific staffer. Unfortunately that person is extremely slow and rude, an older gentleman in paint. Everybody was walking away rolling their eyes. Probably very knowleageable but not very helpful or kind. Everything is at least 50% more expensive than at local competitors. Outrageously expensive. On the positive side, there's beautiful home and holiday stuff, and delicious truffles. The variety of garden tools has decreased. They used to have great tools, now it's just what's available at other stores for less. The location is great for that wealthier neighborhood so they may not mind paying more. I just hope they don't go out of business because I don't want to see another mixed-use 90-120 ft high residential development there.

I went to this Ace Hardware location in Austin to pick up an online order—simple mission: butcher paper for a brisket I was smoking. What I did not expect was to be momentarily derailed by chocolates, truffles, and home décor at Ace. In Texas. Naturally. When you walk through the front doors, you’re immediately presented with a “choose your own adventure” situation. Straight ahead? A beautiful display of artisan chocolates, safely tucked behind glass like precious jewels, safe from prying hands. To the right? Home décor and assorted treasures that make you forget you came in for hardware. To the left—and slightly down a few steps—is the actual customer service area for Ace… which I only discovered after being completely hypnotized by chocolate. LOL. I know some of you understand. Thankfully, a friendly staff member noticed my mild confusion and pointed me in the right direction. The crotchety customer service guy quickly shuffled off to grab my order, and I was on my way. Yes, I paid a couple dollars more than I would have elsewhere—but I needed it now, and the convenience absolutely delivered. Come for the hardware, stay for the truffles, leave wondering how this all makes perfect sense in Austin.

What was an annoying experience turned into something amazing. It’s wonderful to have great. Customer service still exist. I ordered a lawnmower and called in twice to confirm it was there. Upon arriving, the wrong lawnmower was placed on hold and they did not have the one that I ordered in stock. A new one was ordered and delivered to my house a few days later at a cheaper cost that I was expecting to pay. Thank you to Alex for making this right and for carrying, but your customers!

This is my first time being in the area and stopping into this business. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough stores like this in Austin, especially near downtown, however, the staff was very cold, I didn’t realize that they were closing, because there were people in the parking lot the door was open and no one let me know. I was browsing so that I could see what they had and was very rudely told that they were closing soon and was treated like I was in their way when everyone was kind of just standing around doing nothing. The woman telling me wouldn’t even look at me. She just kind of barked at me and just kept walking. It was very weird. I won’t be going back.
