Petworth Ace has truly assembled the best staff out there. I find myself needing something from Ace every couple months, and every time I am at the store, I am greeted with the warmest smiles and nicest offers to help and answer questions, always with patience and without judgement. They really care about their customers. Here’s one example: Yesterday (a Saturday) the store was packed and the credit card machines went down. I asked to stash my plants in the back so I could come back in an hour when things were up and running. When I came back, someone who missed the memo had put all my plants back on shelves. I was too tired to find them all and wait in line again so left the store. This morning, I returned to try again and was welcomed by Eric, who of course remembered me and gave me the nicest apology and then insisted on a very generous discount at checkout to make up for the hassle. Everyone at this store goes above and beyond. Eric especially (thank you!!!). I’m a loyal Petworth Ace fan for life - if you live in the neighborhood and you’re not shopping here, you’re missing out.

We love this Ace! The staff is so kind, great variety of inventory, and so many fun seasonal add-ons. I’ve loved this Ace location since we moved to the neighborhood in 2020, but had to write a review today based on my interaction with the store manager. Despite being sold out, he searched high and low to find a sled for my kid in anticipation of a big snow storm this weekend — and ultimately found one! That’s incredible customer service and will truly make my kids’ day. Thank you!

I love the Ace Hardware in the Petworth neighborhood! It’s super convenient, located right off Upshur St NW. The employees are always so helpful and friendly, making every visit a pleasant experience. The store is packed with interesting little finds that you wouldn’t expect from a small hardware store. While they may not have the endless selection of a big box store, they always have that one item you need in a pinch. Plus, it’s just around the corner, which makes it incredibly convenient. The store is open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM (except Sunday, when it’s 9 AM to 6 PM). Parking can be a bit tough at times but don’t let that deter you from stopping. Highly recommend checking it out!

I always have a great experience when I come here for my home projects. The staff is super knowledgeable and always points me in the right direction without making me feel silly for asking basic questions. It is just a really friendly, well-organized shop that makes it easy to get exactly what I need and get back to work.

Love the staff and root beer option in the fridge! Garden staff, manager, and helpful hub folks are particularly good. However, I can never get any service in or around the building, so I can’t access my grocery list or look up my coupons on the Ace app. Sometimes the plants/soil also have gnats.
