An update to the beloved store I frequent for all my old-house needs. Previous review is pretty much on the dot. I still love the friendly staff here. This last visit, I wanted to find parts to fix my too short doorbell wires, and got a full service lesson from a former electrician. Less than a dollar for the necessary wires and about 3 bucks for connectors, only because they didn’t have them in singles and I had to buy a 10-pack. I love the friendly service. Previous review (8/2020) Compared to the Home Depot south of here, this place is tiny. But well packed. And has mostly everything you need. 

The best part about this place, as tiny and crowded as it is, are the people. The people working here are always so nice! And attentive! 
I've never been in here and not had someone ask, "Can I help you find anything?" Sometimes more than once if you're perusing. And the questions are never annoyed, but friendly, like they really want to help. 

They also fix screens (and sell everything you need to fix it yourself if you're in the mood for it). While they quoted us about a week for it to get done, it was actually done in one day. 

It's a franchise, but it feels like a neighborhood store. Love it.

As a new homeowner, I had an excellent experience working with Tony. He recognized that I was facing a problem that was new to me and patiently demonstrated which exact tool to use and how to use it. I was able to return home and solve the problem quite easily with the new tools that Tony recommended. 5 stars of Tony! Unfortunately, my next experience was quite frustrating. I ordered a lawnmower online that was expected to be delivered today. When it got late, I checked my order status online and saw that the order was canceled. I was never notified of this. Now I am being told that I need to reorder this item and it will not be delivered anytime soon. The online agent and the customer care representative said that this is the store’s fault and that they would be responsible for notifying me of the cancelation. Now I am left with no lawn mower and grass growing higher and higher.

Service department is rude and condescending. Feels like you’re on trial. Never seen this type of arrogance. The last 4 visits. Moving on to downer hardware, Home Depot or Amazon. I feel like it’s an episode out of Seinfeld. We’re Jerry gets reprimanded by Tony his auto mechanic. I feel like you need representation with you when you ask for help at this ace hardware. Went to Home Depot and the part was 1/2 the price.

The staff were fantastic. I was in a huge hurry. A young guy showed me directly to the 2 items I needed. I was in and out in less than 2 minutes. If I would have tried to find the items on my own it would have been there for 20 minutes at least. And I didn't have to track an employee down to help me. He was right there when I walked through the door to ask if he could help me find anything.

The people are incredible, an associate sees me walking in with a plumbing part as he is exciting the store helping a customer and says aisle 13.. once their another associate asks if I need help, in 3 minutes he has found the part I needed and explained why one vendor was slightly better than the other for this part. The repair went just as he explained. Amazing talent at this store.
